This little guy found something to love in this faded Dahlia
Beautyberry
Waterlily
This is a last glimpse of a few plants that are soon to disappear until next summer. The great thing about Florida though, is that lots of other foliage and flowering plants are ready to step in to fill the late fall and winter with color.
We live on 8 acres of land in Alachua County Florida. We began in a single wide mobile home on land with more weeds than grass, more sand than soil. The trees-oaks, sweetgum, hickory, pines, and magnolias were beautiful and we began planting azaleas and camillias around these. We also turned a boggy area into a 1/2 acre pond as well as adding a couple of small ponds for waterlilies. A vegetable garden was started the first year and has provided us with most of our produce. We finished building our house and moved in June of '96. We continue to plant and grow and enjoy life on this bit of earth that owns us.
